Welcome to our organization
In the Sheffield area alone there are approximately 350 new patients treated each year for bowel cancer.
The Support Group was formed in 2005 by the nurse led Colorectal Team to give much needed non-medical help for patients during their recovery. The Group’s aim is to help patients restore confidence, improve mobility and to gain a better understanding of their treatment and condition to aid their recovery. Volunteers, who were themselves, bowel cancer patients, lead the group. Experienced NHS staff provides training and ongoing support.
The Group meets on alternate months at the United Reform Church, Chapel Walk (opposite The Crucible) for organised talks and discussion groups. In the short time since it was formed, the Group has already proved to be of great assistance to those who have participated.
Support Group meeting at Central United Reform Church
After financial support from NHS and Macmillan Cancer Support during the start-up phase, we now are required to be self-supporting. We are, therefore, seeking a small number of organisations that are prepared to support such a worthwhile local initiative.
You can help us by sponsoring a meeting for £50 (budget cost) or by any donation towards our costs.
