Steering Group Meetings - 2009
The Steering Group is made up of volunteers who are interested in organising and managing the activities of the Support Group. A senior representative of the Sheffield Colorectal Nurse Team is an integral part of the team.
In addition to organising and managing the activities of the group, the Steering Group also provide the Colorectal Team with important feedback on the treatment and services that recent patients have received. The Group also is linked to Sheffield Cancer Services Advisory Group (SCSAG) in order to give feedback to all the services connected with cancer care in Sheffield.
The Steering Group meets at the Scout Meeting Rooms, Trippet Lane, Sheffield, S1 4EL Any patient and/or carer is welcome to attend all Steering Group meetings and we value any additional help.

Steering Group Aims for 2010
- To maintain and strengthen the relationship between Sheffield bowel cancer patients and the Sheffield Colorectal MDT in a way that promotes the best patient experience.
- To play a key role in the implementation of the Cancer Reform Strategy by ensuring that patients remain at the heart of change by helping the professionals to better understand their needs and expectations.
- To play a key role in the development and evaluation of new and existing patient information in order that the Colorectal MDT can be confident it’s information is appropriate, clear, available to all and given in a timely manner in line with ‘information prescriptions’.
- To develop a website for Sheffield bowel cancer patients with useful information and support mechanisms.
- To become involved in health promotion and education in a way which safeguards individual patient’s well being, but which enables users to be actively engaged in helping the public and other patients.
